Insufficient network isolation allowed malicious pre-receive hook code to impersonate an internal service and redirect trusted internal requests to a privileged service, leading to elevated code execution. Exploitation required pre-receive hook networking to be enabled and either site administrator privileges or write access to a repository containing a configured pre-receive hook. This vulnerability affected all versions of GitHub Enterprise Server prior to 3.22 and was fixed in versions 3.17.20, 3.18.14, 3.19.11, 3.20.7, and 3.21.5. A server-side request forgery (SSRF) vulnerability was identified in GitHub Enterprise Server that allowed an unauthenticated attacker to cause the Manage API to send crafted outbound requests to an attacker-controlled host. An unauthenticated endpoint parsed an attacker-supplied cluster configuration and issued gateway-to-agent requests whose HMAC authenticated only a timestamp, not the request path or body. An attacker positioned to intercept the outbound request could capture this token and replay it against privileged management agent endpoints. High-availability deployments were not affected due to a topology restriction. This vulnerability affected all versions of GitHub Enterprise Server prior to 3.22 and was fixed in versions 3.17.19, 3.18.13, 3.19.10, 3.20.6, and 3.21.4. A denial of service vulnerability was identified in GitHub Enterprise Server that allowed an unauthenticated attacker to cause excessive CPU consumption and exhaust the pool of request-handling worker processes by sending a crafted form-encoded HTTP POST request containing deeply nested parameters. Because request parameters were parsed before routing and authentication, any POST endpoint could be used to trigger the condition, which could render the instance unresponsive. This vulnerability affected all versions of GitHub Enterprise Server prior to 3.21 and was fixed in versions 3.20.3, 3.19.7, 3.18.10, and 3.17.16.

A path traversal vulnerability was identified in GitHub Enterprise Server that allowed an unauthenticated attacker to delete arbitrary files and directories on the instance, including the entire user storage directory containing Git LFS objects, release assets, attachments, and avatars. The X-GitHub-Request-Id request header was used without sanitization as a filesystem path segment for the upload buffer directory, so a traversal value pointed the buffer at an arbitrary path and the deferred cleanup routine recursively removed the traversed target. Exploitation required only network reachability to the instance and no authentication, and it worked even when private mode was enabled. This vulnerability affected all versions of GitHub Enterprise Server prior to 3.22 and was fixed in versions 3.21.4, 3.20.6, 3.19.10, 3.18.13 and 3.17.19. This vulnerability was reported via the GitHub Bug Bounty program.

GitHub MCP Server is GitHub's official MCP Server. Prior to 1.1.0, the CompletionsHandler function in pkg/github/server.go accesses params.Ref without first checking whether it is nil, so a completion/complete request with a missing or empty ref field triggers a nil pointer dereference and a Go runtime panic; because the crash occurs before any authentication or token validation, any unauthenticated client able to send JSON-RPC messages can crash the server, resulting in a complete denial of service. This issue is fixed in version 1.1.0.

secure_headers manages application of security headers with many safe defaults. Prior to 7.3.0, secure_headers builds the Content-Security-Policy value by stitching directives with ; separators, and build_sandbox_list_directive, build_media_type_list_directive, and build_report_to_directive interpolate caller-supplied strings without scrubbing ;, \r, or \n. When untrusted input reaches SecureHeaders.override_content_security_policy_directives or append APIs for :sandbox, :plugin_types, or :report_to, an attacker can inject a CSP directive such as script-src 'unsafe-inline' * before the legitimate script-src, enabling XSS reachability through these sinks or CSP report exfiltration. This issue is fixed in version 7.3.0.

The delegated bypass endpoint resolved a rule suite directly from an attacker-supplied, encoded identifier without verifying that the requesting user could read the rule suite's repository, and because these identifiers are sequential an attacker could enumerate them across the instance. A path traversal vulnerability was identified in GitHub Enterprise Server that allowed an attacker who had code execution inside the Dependabot updater container to write files to arbitrary repository paths, including GitHub Actions workflow files under .github/workflows/ as the path validation did not check the effective path which the attacker could control through the dependency file's directory and symlink target. If the repository used a pull_request_target workflow or had auto-merge enabled, an injected workflow could execute with access to the repository's GitHub Actions secrets. An incorrect authorization vulnerability was identified in GitHub Enterprise Server that allowed a user-to-server token scoped to a GitHub App installation to perform certain write operations on public repositories outside the token's intended scope. This was possible because the authorization check only verified that the installation had read permissions on the target repository rather than verifying that the token's installation was explicitly granted access to that repository. An attacker who obtained a victim's user-to-server token could create issues, issue comments, commit comments, and private vulnerability reports on any public repository, appearing as the victim user with no indication of the app involvement. This vulnerability was fixed by adding a repository scope check for user-to-server tokens issued by global apps. This vulnerability affected all versions of GitHub Enterprise Server prior to 3.22 and was fixed in versions 3.21.2, 3.20.4, 3.19.8, 3.18.11, 3.17.17, 3.16.20. This vulnerability was reported via the GitHub Bug Bounty program.

A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability was identified in GitHub Enterprise Server that allowed an authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary JavaScript in another user's browser by injecting a crafted payload into the title of a Discussion in the Q&A category. The AnsweredQuestionStructuredDataComponent did not escape user-controlled Discussion titles before embedding them in a <script type="application/ld+json"> block, allowing the title to break out of the script context. The injection was escalated to a full cross-site scripting attack on GitHub Enterprise Server by leveraging JSONP callback support in the REST API to bypass the Content Security Policy. This vulnerability affected all versions of GitHub Enterprise Server prior to 3.21 and was fixed in versions 3.20.4, 3.19.8, 3.18.11, 3.17.17, 3.16.20. From 0.22.0 until 1.1.2, when running in HTTP mode with --lockdown-mode enabled, the RepoAccessCache is implemented as a process-global singleton initialized with the first authenticated user's GraphQL client. All subsequent requests from different users share this singleton and their lockdown-related GraphQL queries are executed using the first user's credentials. The singleton is never updated to reflect later users' tokens. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.1.2.
