CVSS v3.1 |
| OpenAI Codex CLI for Windows, macOS, and Linux and Codex Desktop for Windows and macOS automatically collected Git repository metadata without disabling the repository-local core.fsmonitor setting. If a user opens or uses an attacker-prepared repository whose preserved .git/config sets core.fsmonitor to an attacker-controlled filesystem-monitor helper, Git can execute that helper while Codex collects repository metadata. The helper runs outside Codex's command sandbox and without a user-approval prompt, allowing attacker-controlled code to run with the user's privileges. The code can read, change, or delete the user's files and access other resources available to the user's account. An ordinary Git clone does not preserve the source repository's local .git/config; exploitation requires a repository delivered or copied with that configuration intact. |
| OpenAI Codex CLI for Windows, macOS, and Linux and Codex Desktop for Windows and macOS misclassified certain PowerShell commands as safe because their command-safety parser interpreted PowerShell's stop-parsing token (--%) differently than PowerShell itself. If a user opens an attacker-prepared repository and Codex follows its instructions, Codex can run a file-writing Git command without requesting user approval. On macOS and Linux, exploitation additionally requires separately installed PowerShell Core (pwsh) to be invoked. If filesystem protections permit the write, the command can modify Codex's configuration. If Codex later loads the modified configuration, it can launch an attacker-controlled MCP server and execute code with the user's privileges, allowing it to read, change, or delete files accessible to that account. The approval bypass does not disable filesystem sandboxing; the default filesystem sandbox on macOS and Linux can prevent writes outside permitted locations. |
| OpenAI Codex Desktop for Windows and macOS automatically inspected Git metadata and working-tree status when a user opened a workspace. If the workspace contains a repository with preserved attacker-controlled .git/config, the attr.tree setting and a configured clean or process filter can cause Git to run an attacker-controlled program. The program runs outside Codex's command sandbox with the signed-in user's privileges, without a workspace-trust prompt, command approval, or interaction with a model. The attacker can read, modify, or delete files and access credentials available to that user. Exploitation requires Git to be available on PATH and the user to open the attacker-prepared repository with its local Git configuration intact. An ordinary Git clone does not copy the source repository's .git/config and is not sufficient by itself. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
openrisc: signal: do not restore privileged SR bits on sigreturn
restore_sigcontext() copies the whole supervision register (SR) from the
signal frame and only clears SPR_SR_SM before the value is reloaded into
the hardware SR (through ESR and l.rfe) on the return to user space. All
other SR bits are left under user control.
An unprivileged task can thus return from a signal handler through a
crafted sigframe that clears SPR_SR_DME. With the data MMU disabled the
CPU performs no translation or protection on data accesses, so the task
gains read and write access to arbitrary physical memory, a local
privilege escalation. SPR_SR_IME, SPR_SR_SUMRA, SPR_SR_LEE, SPR_SR_EPH
and the cache-enable bits are exposed the same way. The ptrace GPR regset
already refuses any change to SR for exactly this reason.
Restore only the arithmetic flag bits (F, CY, OV) from the signal frame
and take every privileged control bit from the SR the kernel saved on
signal entry.
Verified with qemu-system-or1k -M or1k-sim: before this change an
unprivileged PoC clears SPR_SR_DME in rt_sigreturn and writes a marker to
physical address 0x03000000 (beyond the kernel's mem=32M); afterwards the
same PoC receives SIGSEGV and physical memory is unchanged. |
| IBM Db2 Mirror for i 7.4, 7.5, and 7.6 could allow a remote attacker to obtain sensitive information due to external control of system configuration. |
| In Splunk Enterprise versions below 10.4.2, 10.2.6, 10.0.9, and 9.4.14, a user who does not hold the "admin" or "power" Splunk roles could affect system integrity and availability by sending a crafted Representational State Transfer (REST) API request that deletes or temporarily overwrites files writable by the user account running Splunk Enterprise processes on a non-captain search head cluster member. The vulnerability is possible because Search Head Clustering bundle replication does not validate the name of a replicated bundle file or neutralize NUL bytes before constructing the member bundle path. For more information see About search head clustering (https://help.splunk.com/en/splunk-enterprise/administer/distributed-search/10.4/overview-of-search-head-clustering/about-search-head-clustering), Define roles on the Splunk platform with capabilities (https://help.splunk.com/en/splunk-enterprise/administer/manage-users-and-security/10.4/manage-splunk-platform-users-and-roles/define-roles-on-the-splunk-platform-with-capabilities), and Secure Splunk Enterprise service accounts (https://help.splunk.com/en/splunk-enterprise/administer/manage-users-and-security/9.0/install-splunk-enterprise-securely/secure-splunk-enterprise-service-accounts) in the Splunk documentation. |
| powerlevel10k fails to neutralize control characters in the package.json version field when rendering the package prompt segment. Attackers can inject raw escape bytes in the version string to emit arbitrary terminal control sequences on each prompt render when the shell enters affected directories. |
| broot renders each file and directory name in its interactive tree view exactly as read from the filesystem. Names are converted with a plain to_string_lossy() call in src/tree_build/builder.rs and in TreeLine::unprune in src/tree/tree_line.rs, and no control-character filtering exists anywhere in the code, even though the doc comment on the TreeLine name field states that some characters may have been stripped. Any local user who can create a file can therefore place an escape sequence in its name and have it written unmodified to the terminal of anyone who browses that directory, between broot's own styling codes. A reported proof of concept used an OSC 52 clipboard-write sequence and captured the raw bytes broot wrote to its pty, confirming the sequence reaches the terminal unstripped. What an injected OSC or CSI sequence can then do depends on the terminal emulator in use. Browsing a directory is broot's primary function and carries no expectation that the content is trusted. |
| When handling the filename directive in the Content-Disposition header, the filename would be truncated if the filename contained a NULL character. This could have led to reflected file download attacks potentially tricking users to install malware. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 112, Focus for Android < 112, Firefox ESR < 102.10, Firefox for Android < 112, and Thunderbird < 102.10. |
| Pyenv provides simple Python version management. Prior to 2.8.0, is_version_safe() in libexec/pyenv-version-file-read accepts shell glob metacharacters in .python-version values, and unquoted PYENV_VERSION expansion in libexec/pyenv-version-name, libexec/pyenv-which, libexec/pyenv-prefix, libexec/pyenv-local, libexec/pyenv-global, libexec/pyenv-version, and libexec/pyenv-versions pathname-expands the value against the current directory, allowing a matching attacker-controlled file to silently select a different installed interpreter or version. This issue is fixed in version 2.8.0. |
| In Eclipse Theia versions up to and including 1.69.0, opening a folder starts source control integration without requiring the user to trust the folder first. This affects applications built on Theia that include the git integration, such as the Theia IDE. Both Theia's own `@theia/git` extension and the builtin VS Code `git` extension run git commands such as `git status` as soon as a repository is detected. Since git honors repository-local configuration, a folder containing an attacker-controlled `.git/config` with `core.fsmonitor` (or a comparable hook-like setting) causes the configured command to be executed. The configuration can be delivered by burying a bare repository inside a regular repository (OVE-20210718-0001), so cloning an attacker-supplied repository and opening it in a Theia-based application is sufficient to execute arbitrary commands with the privileges of the user, without any confirmation prompt.
As of 1.70.0, plugins that declare `capabilities.untrustedWorkspaces.supported: false`, which includes the builtin git extension, are no longer loaded or activated in an untrusted workspace, and the deprecated `@theia/git` extension has been removed, so no git command is executed against an untrusted folder. |
| FreePBX is an open source IP PBX. Prior to 16.0.47 and 17.0.30, the FreePBX Framework module permits a crafted backup to restore the hidden AUTHTYPE setting with the value none through runRestore() in amp_conf/htdocs/admin/libraries/Builtin/Restore.php. An authenticated user with sufficient backup-restore access or write access to backup files can thereby disable FreePBX authentication during restoration, bypassing the user-interface removal of AUTHTYPE=none. This issue is fixed in versions 16.0.47 and 17.0.30. |
| Oh My Posh is the most customisable and low-latency cross platform/shell prompt renderer. Prior to 29.35.1, write(s rune) in src/terminal/writer.go emitted attacker-controlled current directory names and Git metadata, including Commit.Subject, Commit.Author.Name, Commit.Author.Email, and RawUpstreamURL, without removing C0/C1 terminal control characters such as ESC, BEL, CSI, and OSC, allowing terminal escape sequence injection during prompt rendering that could overwrite the clipboard, spoof the prompt or screen, manipulate the window title, or disrupt the terminal. This issue is fixed in version 29.35.1. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: bcmgenet: keep RBUF EEE/PM disabled
Setting RBUF_EEE_EN | RBUF_PM_EN in RBUF_ENERGY_CTRL breaks the RX
path on GENET hardware once MAC EEE becomes active. RX traffic stops
flowing while the link stays up and the usual descriptor/RX error
counters remain quiet. In that state the MAC still accepts frames
(rbuf_ovflow_cnt keeps climbing) but RBUF no longer forwards them to
DMA, so rx_packets is no longer incremented at the netdev level. On
some boards the corruption ends up as a paging fault in
skb_release_data via bcmgenet_rx_poll on an LPI exit.
Reproduced on Pi 4B (BCM2711 + BCM54213PE) and confirmed by Florian
Fainelli on an internal Broadcom 4908-family board with the same crash
signature. RBUF_PM_EN is not publicly documented.
This shows up more often now that phy_support_eee() enables EEE by
default, but it also affects older kernels as soon as TX LPI is
turned on via ethtool, so it is not specific to recent changes.
Always clear RBUF_EEE_EN | RBUF_PM_EN in bcmgenet_eee_enable_set so
the bits stay off across resets. UMAC and TBUF setup is left alone so
TX-side EEE keeps working. |
| Shescape is a simple shell escape library for JavaScript. Prior to 2.1.14 and 3.0.1, this impacts users of Shescape on Unix systems that explicitly configure shell to Zsh, or true when the default shell is Zsh, using the escape and escapeAll. The Zsh options EXTENDED_GLOB and MAGIC_EQUAL_SUBST exacerbate the problem. In certain case, an attacker can leverage home directory expansion and extended glob syntax to obtain lists of files and directories on the system. Depending on what the command does, this may be used to leak more information. This issue is fixed in versions 2.1.14 and 3.0.1. |
| Bash-it 3.2.0 contains a terminal escape sequence injection vulnerability in the barbuk theme's Python virtualenv prompt segment that allows local attackers to inject arbitrary terminal control sequences by embedding escape sequences in the requires-python field of a pyproject.toml file. When a user navigates into a directory containing a maliciously crafted pyproject.toml, the unfiltered field value is read via awk and concatenated directly into PS1 through __prompt-command without stripping control characters, causing injected OSC or CSI sequences to be written to and interpreted by the terminal emulator on every prompt render. |
| Shescape is a simple shell escape library for JavaScript. Prior to 2.1.14 and 3.0.1, getEscapeFunction in src/internal/win/cmd.js does not escape `(` and `)` when applications use the escape or escapeAll APIs on Windows with shell set to cmd.exe, or with shell set to true when CMD is the default. An attacker-controlled argument can break out of a parenthesized CMD construct and inject shell syntax depending on the original command, resulting in arbitrary command execution. This issue is fixed in versions 2.1.14 and 3.0.1. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: ip_tunnel: make sure to pull inner header in ip_tunnel_rcv()
Apply the same fix than ones found in :
8d975c15c0cd ("ip6_tunnel: make sure to pull inner header in __ip6_tnl_rcv()")
1ca1ba465e55 ("geneve: make sure to pull inner header in geneve_rx()")
We have to save skb->network_header in a temporary variable
in order to be able to recompute the network_header pointer
after a pskb_inet_may_pull() call.
pskb_inet_may_pull() makes sure the needed headers are in skb->head.

| Kitty is a cross-platform GPU based terminal. Prior to 0.48.2, the @kitty-echo and @kitty-ssh DCS handlers in kitty/window.py write unauthenticated data to the child shell's stdin, where handle_remote_echo accepts printable shell command characters and handle_remote_ssh calls get_ssh_data in kittens/ssh/utils.py, which emits a newline; chaining the handlers can execute attacker-controlled commands when a user displays untrusted terminal data. This issue is fixed in version 0.48.2. |
| npm-check-updates through 23.0.2, fixed in commit b554b84, contains a terminal escape sequence injection vulnerability that allows an attacker to embed arbitrary terminal control characters in a dependency's package.json homepage or repository URL fields. When a developer runs ncu with the --format homepage or --format repo option, unfiltered escape sequences are written directly to the terminal, enabling malicious output manipulation or other terminal-dependent effects. |
