CVSS v3.1 |
| In med, there is a possible out of bounds write due to an incorrect bounds check. This could lead to local denial of service with User execution privileges needed. User interaction is not needed for exploitation. Patch ID: ALPS10981478 (Note: For MT6890, MT6990, MT6988) / AUTO00851173 (Note: For MT2735, MT2737); Issue ID: MSV-7652. |
| The Sierra Wireless HL7800 cellular modem driver (drivers/modem/vendor_standalone/hl7800.c, located at drivers/modem/hl7800.c in v4.4.0 and earlier) parses AT responses with roughly twenty handlers that call net_buf_linearize(value, sizeof(value), *buf, 0, len) into a 128-byte stack buffer and then write value[out_len] = 0. Because net_buf_linearize() (lib/net_buf/buf.c) can return a count equal to its destination-length argument, a field that exactly fills the buffer makes the terminating NUL land one byte past the end, a single-byte out-of-bounds write into adjacent stack memory.
The +KCELLMEAS cell-measurement handler on_cmd_atcmdinfo_rssi() is worse: it passed the wire length len as the destination size (net_buf_linearize(value, len, *buf, 0, len)), so a response line longer than 128 bytes overflows the value stack buffer with attacker-influenceable content. The line length comes from net_buf_findcrlf(), which accumulates bytes across the whole net_buf fragment chain and is not bounded to 128, so an over-long line reaches the defect.
The data originates from the cellular modem over UART, driven by the network: operator-scan results, +CGCONTRDP IP/DNS info, socket indications, and +KCELLMEAS neighbour-cell reports. An attacker able to shape what the modem emits — a rogue base station, a compromised modem baseband, or a remote peer feeding oversized response framing — can drive a line past 128 bytes. The handlers run in the driver's RX thread in kernel context, so the corruption is kernel-side.
The +KCELLMEAS path is a full stack buffer overflow whose worst case is code execution in kernel context and whose floor is a reliable crash; the remaining sites are single-byte NUL out-of-bounds writes. Exploitation requires the modem to emit an over-long AT response line, giving high attack complexity over an adjacent (cellular radio) vector. The fix passes sizeof(dst) - 1 (and correct explicit bounds for the IMSI and +KCELLMEAS sites) so the terminator always stays in bounds. |
| A flaw was found in popt, a command-line option parsing library. An off-by-one error in the poptStuffArgs function, when repeatedly called by a host application or through deep alias nesting, can lead to corruption of internal program data. This corruption could potentially enable a local attacker to execute arbitrary code if the host application then unsafely processes the altered data. |
| A heap buffer overflow vulnerability was found in GStreamer's rfbsrc plugin. When a client connects to a malicious RFB/VNC server that advertises a 16bpp framebuffer and sends Hextile-encoded updates, the Hextile background fill path writes 32-bit pixel values into a buffer allocated for 16-bit pixels. This type mismatch causes an out-of-bounds heap write that can lead to denial of service (process crash) and potential memory corruption. |
| A heap out-of-bounds write vulnerability was found in the GStreamer gst-plugins-bad adpcmdec element when decoding IMA/DVI ADPCM audio. Insufficient validation of the per-block sample count for multi-channel streams allows a crafted WAV file to cause writes beyond the allocated output buffer. This can lead to application crash, denial of service, memory corruption, or potentially arbitrary code execution when untrusted media is processed. |
| Improper input validation in libcodec2_sec_flacdec.so prior to SMR Aug-2026 Release 1 allows local attackers to write out-of-bounds memory. |
| A memory corruption issue was addressed with improved state management. This issue is fixed in Safari 26.6.1, iOS 18.7.10 and iPadOS 18.7.10, iOS 26.6.1 and iPadOS 26.6.1, macOS Tahoe 26.6.2. Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to an unexpected Safari crash. |
| An out-of-bounds access issue was addressed with improved bounds checking. |
| Heap-based buffer overflow in the SOHM list-index deserialization code in HDF5 through 2.1.1 on all platforms allows attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via a crafted HDF5 file whose shared-message list index declares a num_messages count exceeding list_max, triggering out-of-bounds heap reads and writes in H5SM__cache_list_deserialize and H5SM__cache_list_verify_chksum. |
| An out-of-bounds write issue in the Base64 decoder in Amazon aws-sdk-cpp before 1.11.862 might allow a remote authenticated user to cause a crash or heap memory corruption in an application that processes crafted Base64-encoded input.
To remediate this issue, users should upgrade to version 1.11.862. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ntfs: validate index entries on reading
Validate index entries immediately after reading an index root or index
block from disk. This eliminates repeated checks in lookup and readdir,
and reduce the risk of missing checks in those paths. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
memstick: ms_block: reject a card that reports too many blocks
msb_ftl_initialize() computes the zone count from the card block count
with no bound:
msb->zone_count = msb->block_count / MS_BLOCKS_IN_ZONE;
...
for (i = 0; i < msb->zone_count; i++)
msb->free_block_count[i] = MS_BLOCKS_IN_ZONE;
msb->block_count is a card value. msb_read_boot_blocks() reads
number_of_blocks from the card boot page and byte swaps it.
free_block_count is a fixed int[MS_MAX_ZONES]. MS_MAX_ZONES is 16, so the
valid indices are 0 to 15. The init loop above indexes it by zone_count.
msb_mark_block_used() and msb_mark_block_unused() index it by
pba / MS_BLOCKS_IN_ZONE, for pba up to block_count - 1. A card may report
up to 65535 blocks. A block_count above 8192 (MS_MAX_ZONES *
MS_BLOCKS_IN_ZONE) lets the pba index reach 16. That writes past
free_block_count[] and corrupts struct msb_data. A larger count runs the
init loop past the end too.
A real Memory Stick has at most 16 zones. So it has at most 8192 blocks.
msb_ftl_initialize() now rejects a card that reports more than
MS_MAX_ZONES * MS_BLOCKS_IN_ZONE blocks. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
dm-verity: fix buffer overflow in FEC calculation
There's a buffer overflow in dm-verity-fec:
if (neras && *neras <= v->fec->roots)
fio->erasures[(*neras)++] = i;
This allows *neras to reach roots + 1 (the post-increment pushes it past
roots). This value is then passed as no_eras to decode_rs8(). Inside the
RS decoder (lib/reed_solomon/decode_rs.c:113-121), the erasure locator
polynomial loop writes lambda[j] where j can reach nroots + 1 — one
element past the end of lambda[] (which is sized nroots + 1, valid
indices 0..nroots). The out-of-bounds write lands on syn[0], corrupting
the syndrome buffer. |
| IBM i 7.6, 7.5, 7.4, and 7.3 could allow a remote attacker to cause a denial of service due to a heap buffer overflow. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
powerpc/spufs: fix out-of-bounds access in spufs_mem_mmap_access()
spufs_mem_mmap_access() computes the local store offset as
address - vma->vm_start, but bounds-checks it against vma->vm_end
instead of the local store size. On 64-bit, offset is always well
below vma->vm_end, so the clamp never fires and len stays unbounded
against the LS_SIZE buffer returned by ctx->ops->get_ls().
Reject offsets at or beyond LS_SIZE and clamp len to the remaining
space, mirroring the guard already used by spufs_mem_mmap_fault() and
spufs_ps_fault(). |

| DBI versions before 1.652 for Perl allow a heap out-of-bounds write on 32-bit perl via an integer wraparound in the output buffer size computed by preparse.
preparse reserves its output buffer with `newSV(strlen(statement) * 7 + 16)`, budgeting seven output bytes per input byte for the longest ':p99999' expansion. The product is computed in STRLEN, which is 32 bits wide on a 32-bit perl build, so a statement of 613,566,757 bytes multiplies to 4,294,967,299, wraps modulo 2^32 to 3, and reserves 19 bytes. The parser then copies the statement out through a raw pointer with no capacity check, writing the whole 585 MB input past the end of the allocation. The 99,999 placeholder limit does not bound this path, which is reached by ordinary non-placeholder content.
Any caller that passes an untrusted statement of that length to preparse on a 32-bit perl gets a heap out-of-bounds write of attacker controlled bytes. Builds with a 64-bit STRLEN are not affected, since the wrap there needs a statement of about 2.3 exabytes. |

Processing a maliciously crafted file may lead to unexpected app termination or arbitrary code execution. |
